Farewell to David Cowles

January 31, 2019

Kothes Eden is farewelling one of our chartered accountants David Cowles in February. David is moving to Canberra to pursue sporting opportunities for his son Luka, a rising young tennis star.

Luka, 9, is in the top 5 players in his age group in Australia and will train with Tennis Australia. Canberra is also more central to the tournament circuit which David, his wife Ana, Luka and Zoe, 6, have been travelling every weekend for the past several years.

David has been with Kothes Accounting Group since 2012. He grew up in Tathra and although accounting wasn’t his first career choice, when he discovered his affinity with numbers could be developed into an exciting career, he hasn’t looked back.

He has thoroughly enjoyed his time with Kothes and is sad to leave his work colleagues.

“I have been extremely happy working at Kothes and would like to thank everyone for all the opportunities they have given me. I’d also like to thank my clients who I will miss, and I wish them all the best in their businesses for the future.”

Parting accounting tip

David’s parting accounting tip is to embrace technology and move to a cloud-based accounting program.

“We still have people with the old cash books and they might not realise just how much time and effort they will save by embracing the technology and setting themselves up properly with an online accounting program.”

He says whether you’re a small business or large organisation, technology will:

  • Save you time.
  • Save your accountant time.
  • Reduce the amount of storage space needed for your tax and accounting records.
